Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent condolences to President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi in connection with the numerous victims and injured as a result of a passenger train derailment in South Khorasan province.

A passenger train derailed this morning in the Iranian province of South Khorasan, killing 13 people and injuring 50, local news agency Tasnim reported.

"According to the latest data, 13 people died, about 50 were injured," the agency cites an excerpt from the ambulance service of the named province.

According to the agency, the train was traveling from Mashhad, the second largest city in Iran, to the city of Yazd in the central part of the country. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.
