Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 September 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

Current issues of Uzbek – Italian cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, educational, tourism and other spheres were discussed at the meeting.

The parties considered the schedule of the upcoming events at various levels, including the Second Italy – Central Asia Ministerial Meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Tashkent.

Views were exchanged on the regional security issues, including the situation in Afghanistan. The Italian side expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for possible assistance provided in organizing the evacuation process of citizens of European countries and other states.

They expressed readiness to continue interaction in the Afghan direction, in particular, in ensuring regional security and stability, as well as in the delivery of humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan.
