Uzbek graduates of British universities to be able to take part in the Study UK Alumni Awards

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - For eight years, the British Council has been holding the Study UK: Alumni Awards, which is designed to support outstanding UK university graduates from around the world. The award winners are leaders in their fields and leverage the knowledge and experience of UK universities to help develop their country, industry and community.

This year, the Alumni Awards are being held in Uzbekistan for the first time. The four finalists for the National Alumni Awards will win a prize of £ 1,000 and will also be shortlisted for an international award that will receive international recognition for its work and the grand prize of a professional networking trip to the UK.

The Alumni Awards are an award for UK university graduates who have distinguished themselves by exemplary leadership and significant achievement in their professional field and beyond. The award reflects the impact and value of British higher education and enhances the international profile of UK university graduates.

The winner of the international Alamni Award 2020 is a Peruvian participant, Lorena Carrasco, founder of the social startup Nustas, a mentoring and training program for women that promotes equal professional opportunities and development. Lorena Carrasco’s project helps women return to the working environment after having children and be able to defend their rights in various industries and today has more than 2.5 thousand students around the world.

After receiving her Master’s degree in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics (LSE), Lorena decided to create her own project. Studying in the UK encouraged Lauren to think critically and gave her the skills and confidence to start her career as an entrepreneur.

“I never envisioned myself as an entrepreneur, but being in an environment as diverse and intellectually stimulating as the LSE has sharpened my curiosity and provided me with the tools to help women accelerate their career. This experience broadened my understanding of what I can achieve and convinced me that I can contribute to social change on a global scale. "

Applications for the UK Study Alumni Awards are accepted from September 1 to October 29, 2021. Graduates from Uzbekistan who have been trained for at least one semester or have graduated from an officially recognized UK university within the last 15 years can take part.

The winners of the national award will be announced in February 2022 in the following nominations:

- Award for contributions to science and sustainable development

- Award for the contribution to culture and creativity

- Award for active social activities

- Award for Contribution to Business Development and Innovation

British Council invites UK university alumni to try their luck and take part in the Alumni Award. The laureates of the award will have a unique chance to exchange professional contacts both nationally and internationally, expand the circle of like-minded people and increase their international authority.

This year the British Council celebrates its 25th anniversary in Uzbekistan and is delighted to provide even more career and professional development opportunities.h
