Uzbek Government Approves Measures to Encourage Industry to Reduce Environmental Impact

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The government of Uzbekistan has approved a framework to incentivize industrial enterprises in Categories I and II to reduce their negative impact on the environment. The regulation aims to encourage companies to implement environmental protection measures and modernize their production processes.

According to the resolution, support for enterprises will be provided in stages. In the first stage, industrial companies that install air pollution monitoring stations will be exempted from outstanding compensatory payments for environmental damage. Additionally, 50% of such payments, which are directed to the national budget, will be returned to the enterprise over a two-year period.

In the second stage, if the enterprise subsequently installs equipment for dust gas purification and/or local wastewater treatment within the following year, it will receive a refund of 70% of the compensatory payments made to the budget, also over two years.

To receive these incentives, enterprises must submit a notification to the Committee for Ecology through the Centers for Public Services or the my.gov.uz portal, indicating the installed monitoring stations and purification equipment. The Committee reviews the submission within 15 working days and issues an official decision confirming the enterprise’s eligibility for the incentives.

The adopted framework is designed to enhance the environmental responsibility of industrial enterprises, stimulate production modernization, and reduce environmental harm, while providing financial benefits to companies that comply with the requirements.
