Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 13 February 2023, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov received the Head of the Representative Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in our country, Ms. Sara Noshadi.
The parties reviewed the current state and promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, which in recent years has significantly expanded and reached a qualitatively new level.
Today, Uzbekistan is an active participant in the activities of the Organization, initiated and co-organized a number of major joint events.
Uzbekistan for the first time in history in July 2022 was elected a member of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2022-2026, a Memorandum of Understanding for 2022-2026 was signed, providing for further expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO.
At the initiative of the Uzbek side, the Khiva Process was launched, aimed at developing international cooperation in the Central Asian region in the fields of competence of UNESCO, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
