Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 April 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Minister for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of Great Britain, MP, Alan Duncan, who arrived in Uzbekistan.
The sides noted with satisfaction the intensification of bilateral relations in the political, economic, trade, investment, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.
The parties confirmed their interest in the further development of Uzbek-British relations and discussed proposals for a schedule of joint activities in 2019.
During the exchange of views on the international and regional agenda, special attention was paid to the Afghan issue. The British side supported the efforts of Uzbekistan to promote inter-Afghan peaceful dialogue and the implementation of major infrastructure and socio-economic projects in Afghanistan.
The sides also considered the prospects for expanding cooperation in the educational sphere, including the application of relevant standards and experience in the practice of educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
British Ambassador Christopher Allan took part in the conversation.
In 2018, mutual trade grew by 37% compared with the previous year and amounted to US$235.9 million, the United Kingdom took the 5th place in terms of investment in the economy of Uzbekistan.
