Uzbek Foreign Minister Attends Ministerial Meeting on Interregional Security in Luxembourg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov participated in a ministerial meeting on interregional security and connectivity held in Luxembourg.

In his Telegram post, Saidov emphasized that Uzbekistan continues to prioritize the expansion of international transport and logistics links, the development of platforms for innovation and technology exchange, and the strengthening of partnerships that promote security, stability, and sustainable development across regions.

“Our discussions confirmed that interregional connectivity is not only about infrastructure, but also about building trust, supporting innovation, and creating conditions for the shared prosperity of our peoples,” Saidov noted.

According to the European Commission, the Luxembourg meeting brought together representatives from the EU, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

The session consisted of two main segments: the first focused on security, stability, and resilience in the Black Sea region, while the second addressed the broader interregional connectivity agenda. Participants discussed ways to strengthen ties and cooperation between regions, emphasizing the need to enhance collaboration in strategic areas of shared interest, increase resilience, and promote safer, more connected, and prosperous regions.

On the transport agenda, special attention was given to strengthening the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and expanding transport links between the EU, Black Sea countries, Turkey, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia.

Discussions also covered digital infrastructure development and the expansion of high-speed internet to support trade, innovation, and the protection of critical infrastructure. In the energy sector, participants focused on the development of renewable energy, supply diversification, and accelerating the adoption of green energy solutions.

The meeting also considered measures to simplify customs procedures, attract private financing, and integrate markets to boost interregional trade. The next step will be the establishment of a coordination framework to implement the Connectivity Agenda, to be discussed at the Investors’ Forum and Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor agenda in Tashkent on 27 November 2025.
