Uzbek FM receives Tobias Ellwood
During the conversation the sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations in various fields, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
As noted at the meeting, the observed positive dynamics of bilateral relations, including inter-parliamentary and ministerial communications at the present time confirmed the mutual interest in the progressive strengthening of the Uzbek-British constructive dialogue on promising directions.
Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom consider mutual trade and creation of joint ventures with investments as a priority area for the advancement of the cooperation. Currently, 547 enterprises act in our country with the participation of British investors, 151 of them are wholly foreign owned.
The parties recognized the University of Westminster operating in Tashkent as one of the most successful examples of cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The talks, which were attended by British Ambassador Christopher Alan, also discussed pressing issues of the international agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan.
