Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 31 January 2023, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic Viktor Boretsky.

During the meeting, a ceremony was held to present a copy of the credentials of the head of the Slovak diplomatic mission in Tashkent.

Bakhtiyor Saidov congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a high and responsible post, wished him fruitful work and success in further strengthening Uzbek-Slovak relations.

Within the framework of the negotiations, mutual readiness to actively promote economic diplomacy was confirmed. As emphasized, the current level of trade does not correspond to the existing economic opportunities, human and production resources of the two countries. In this context, the need to hold a meeting of the Uzbek-Slovak Interdepartmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation was stated.

The Ambassador expressed the support of Bratislava in the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, as well as in accelerating the conclusion of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

There was also an exchange of views on strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. The organizational aspects of holding joint events and high-level mutual visits were discussed, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
