Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 October 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the chairman of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger, who arrived in Uzbekistan as an observer in the presidential elections.
During the conversation, topical issues of Uzbek-German multifaceted cooperation, certain aspects of regional and international problems were discussed.
Wolfgang Ischinger praised the large-scale transformations being carried out in Uzbekistan in various spheres of the life of the state and society, the results achieved in improving the electoral legislation, creating favorable conditions for active participation of citizens in political processes, strengthening the role of parliament, parties and public control.
The German side welcomed the foreign policy of Uzbekistan, the main direction of which is the development and strengthening of friendly, good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with the Central Asian states.
During the talks, special attention was paid to the current situation in Afghanistan. The parties stressed the need to involve the country in regional economic processes, to provide assistance to the Afghan people, as well as to prevent a humanitarian crisis in this country.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also considered.
