Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro, in Washington.

The parties discussed the current aspects of establishing a partnership between Uzbekistan and the OAS in various spheres. Abdulaziz Kamilov expressed gratitude for the positive consideration of the issue of granting Uzbekistan the status of a permanent observer in the organization.

The sides expressed their interest in strengthening the dialogue at the bilateral and multilateral levels by making relations of a systemic nature.

The main attention was paid to building up the trade, economic and investment ties with the OAS member countries, joint implementation of projects to modernize industry and develop infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

The OAS Secretary General was invited to the International High-Level Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” to be held on 15-16 July in Tashkent.
