Uzbek entrepreneurs to speak at the international UzInvest Forum in London

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 27 November, the international capital UzInvest will be held in the UK capital, dedicated to investment and the potential of Uzbekistan. The summit in London will bring together European investors and interested representatives of the business community. Uzbekistan will be represented for the first time not only by officials, but also by a large delegation of the private sector.

Represented by London-based Adam Smith Conferences and Eurasian Investor, the UzInvest Forum is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan. The official and exclusive partner of the event in the financial sector is Orient Finans, and the communication partner is Dinara & Co. This is the first major international investment forum in Uzbekistan launched as part of a private sector initiative.

Describing the forum’s efforts to bring politicians and business leaders from Uzbekistan and Europe closer together, Aisa Apak, director of research and development for new business at Adam Smith Conferences, called the forum the “Uzbek equivalent of the World Economic Forum in Davos.”

The forum will be attended by a delegation from Uzbekistan, which consists of senior officials and politicians, including First Deputy Minister of Investment Laziz Kudratov, Deputy Minister of Finance Odilbek Isakov, Director of the Agency for Development of the Capital Market Atabek Nazirov and Director of the Agency for State Assets Management Sunnatilla Bekenova.

The speakers will cover 4 areas: financial and pharmaceutical sectors, IT technologies and retail. A finance delegation from Orient Finans Bank will also provide its report. In addition to providing European investors with the opportunity to learn more about recent reforms in the areas of legal protection, privatization and modernization of capital markets, economic liberalization and reforms carried out in various sectors of Uzbekistan, the UzInvest Forum will also emphasize the important role of the private sector of Uzbekistan in stimulating economic development and opening the market to foreign investors.

Zafar Khashimov, CEO of Korzinka.uz, founder of modern food retail in Uzbekistan, will make a presentation on the growth of the private sector in Uzbekistan and the growing interest in entrepreneurship.

Other entrepreneurs who will perform in London will include Universalbank Chairman of the Board Anvar Irchaev, Silk Capital Managing Director Sardor Kosh-Nazarov, Cambridge Learning Centers Director Jahongir Pulatov, Khan Academy Uzbekistan co-founder Umidjon Ishmukhamedov and Home Show brand founder Aziz Nuriddinov.

Esfandiyar Batmangkhelidzh, founder of Eurasian Investor, explained that the time of the UzInvest Forum marks the completion of the first stage of economic reform in Uzbekistan - and the next critical stage is ready to begin. “The opportunity for European multinational companies and financial investors is obvious - Uzbekistan will offer pioneers a steady increase in income and profits for years to come. However, in order to proceed to the second stage of economic reform, it is necessary to attract a wider circle of foreign companies and investors to the Uzbek market. We want to help launch this second phase, ”said Esfandiyar Batmanghelidzh.

Kiyan Zandie, CEO of London-based investment company Sturgeon Capital, one of the sponsors of the UzInvest Forum, sees growing interest among investors in Uzbekistan. “Investors see strong economic growth due to the low base effect, an ambitious program of economic reforms and attractive macro-dynamics. Last year, there was a surge of interest, which, we believe, will only increase as awareness of the unique opportunities that the country provides grows,” said Kiyan Zandie.

The UzInvest Forum will be held at Glaziers Hall, a historic site near the London Bridge, not far from the financial center of the city. This is the first of a series of investment promotion events planned by Adam Smith Conferences and Eurasian Investor aimed at supporting economic development in Uzbekistan.
