Uzbek Energy Minister meets with Masdar delegation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 July, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with a delegation of Masdar (UAE), headed by Director General Mohamed Jamil Al Ramahi.

The delegation is in the country in connection with the signing of agreements with the Government of Uzbekistan on two solar photovoltaic power plants (FES), the signing ceremony, which took place the day before.

Alisher Sultanov expressed gratitude for the constant active participation of Masdar in tenders for energy projects planned for implementation in Uzbekistan. One of the results of such participation is the recognition of the Emirati company as the winner of tenders to determine investors for FES projects in Samarkand and Jizzakh regions.

The minister stressed that a modern, constantly developing energy industry is today the basis for ensuring the stability of production facilities, food industry, metallurgy and other important economic spheres of Uzbekistan. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy of the country is faced with the task of creating conditions for the production of electricity ahead of demand. And such leading companies as Masdar are reliable partners and assistants in solving this problem.

As Mohamed Jamil Al Ramahi emphasized during the meeting, Uzbekistan in a relatively short period of time has created a modern legal framework for the development of such an innovative area as renewable energy sources (RES), which is a reliable basis for the development of this area in the country, including construction solar and wind power plants.

During the meeting, the guests were also informed about the large-scale international conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.
