Uzbek DPM holds meeting with representatives of the delegation from Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 July this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov met with representatives of a delegation from Japan.

The delegation included representatives of Japanese business circles represented by the heads of JIC Holding Co. Ltd, BMA365 Chub Inbound Association, Global Communication Co. Ltd, Rokugo Cooperation, Care Support Global Cooperative, Mitachi Ring Cooperative, Yokunaru Co. Ltd" and "Tokai Sonpo Co. ltd. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Nozim Khusanov and Director of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research Umid Obidkhadzhaev.

The goal of the meeting was to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of economic cooperation, development of the business environment, labor migration, as well as improving the level of professional education of personnel.

The parties provided brief information on the state and main indicators of external labor migration, recruitment and employment procedures. Thus, it was emphasized that in the Japanese labor market, the predominant number of registered foreign employees come from Vietnam, China and the Philippines. The main areas of employment are the construction sector, the hotel business, agriculture, medicine (care for the sick and the elderly), shipbuilding, etc.

The Japanese side emphasized the growing need for qualified personnel with knowledge of a foreign language for the effective exchange of experience and the study of modern industry technologies.

In this regard, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of creating a Center for professional and language training in Uzbekistan and a 24-hour support center for migrant workers in Japan.

The parties also shared their impressions about the forum held on July 21 called "2nd labor forum dedicated to the prospects for the development of labor relations and vocational education between Japan and Uzbekistan." The guests noted that, in turn, the forum served as an effective platform for expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and supporting joint initiatives.
