Uzbek Diplomats Visit Migrant Detention Centers in the U.S. and Meet with Nationals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States conducted consular visits to the Caroline and Farmville detention centers in Virginia, where they met with Uzbek citizens held in custody, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the visits, the embassy staff closely examined the conditions of detention, assessed the health and living situation of the nationals, and reviewed issues related to nutrition and daily life.

The diplomats also provided citizens with detailed guidance on consular and legal aspects of their stay in the facilities.

The Uzbek citizens reported that they are currently involved in deportation proceedings due to unauthorized entry into the United States. They appealed to the embassy representatives for assistance in facilitating a prompt return to Uzbekistan.

Within their consular authority, diplomats expressed readiness to consult with U.S. authorities on the return of Uzbek citizens and to provide practical support in preparing the necessary consular documents.

Given recent changes in U.S. immigration policy, the embassy strongly recommends that Uzbek nationals abroad strictly adhere to the laws of the host country, maintain legal status, and refrain from any unlawful activities.

Citizens in need of assistance can contact the consular section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington at +1 (202) 887-5300 or via email at consul.washington@mfa.uz.

For reference, on 21 January, 2026, 44 Uzbek nationals were returned to Tashkent after deportation from the United States due to illegal stay. The charter flight was organized by U.S. migration authorities with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
