Uzbek Diplomats Discuss Cooperation and Investment with Bahawalpur Business Community

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan visited the Pakistani city of Bahawalpur, where they held meetings with Muhammad Azam Qureshi, Vice President of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives of the local business community, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the visit, the parties discussed investment opportunities in Uzbekistan’s special economic zones in the fields of industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and logistics, as well as promising areas for cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries and the conditions for implementing joint projects.

Azam Qureshi emphasized that the regional economy is focused on agriculture and the agro-industrial complex. He highlighted the strong interest of local entrepreneurs in developing cooperation with Uzbekistan within the framework of specific sectoral projects.

The sides also discussed institutional mechanisms to activate economic ties and measures to increase the volume and quality of export-import operations.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to establish direct contacts between the chambers of commerce of the two countries, sign a memorandum of cooperation, and organize a visit of a delegation of Bahawalpur businesspeople to Uzbekistan.
