Uzbek Deputy PM holds meeting with his UAE counterpart

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 November, within the framework of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Arab Emirates, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Affairs of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, the current status of the implementation of joint projects, as well as the prospects for further expanding the partnership between the two states in trade, economic and investment spheres, were discussed.

The progress achieved in the implementation of large-scale projects in the fields of energy, healthcare and infrastructure development was positively assessed. At the same time, the parties noted broad opportunities for further expanding cooperation through the implementation of new joint projects in the fields of agriculture, telecommunications, health care, tourism, production of building materials and financial services.

Further steps were also outlined to accelerate the implementation of ongoing projects and initiatives, and algorithms for bilateral cooperation in each area were agreed.

The activity of the Uzbek-Emirati investment company "Abu-Dhabi Uzbek Investment", as well as the possibilities for its expansion, in particular, by increasing the volume of financing of the program to support small and medium-sized businesses in Uzbekistan through Uzbek commercial banks, were considered.

The parties recognized the significant potential for attracting Emirati investors to participate in the privatization program of state assets and enterprises with a state share, including investing in the privatization of commercial banks in Uzbekistan.

An initiative was agreed on the joint development of projects for the cultivation of agricultural products in Uzbekistan and its subsequent implementation in the UAE, for which practical steps were outlined to create an appropriate infrastructure for standardization and certification, laboratories and logistics facilities.

In addition, the Emirati side proposed to prioritize joint investment projects in the fields of energy, banking, agriculture, and the mining industry.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the creation of separate joint working groups for a thorough study of specific projects in new areas.
