Uzbek delegation visits China to strengthen cooperation in education and science
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 28 to 30 April 2025, a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Otabek Makhhamov, made an official visit to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the People’s Republic of China.
During the visit, meetings were held with several Chinese organizations to further expand bilateral relations, discuss mutually beneficial investment projects, and develop regional cooperation.
The visit resulted in significant achievements across several key areas.
One of the notable steps was the agreement with the scientific and technological company Tianfeng from Xinjiang to establish a laboratory center aimed at ensuring food security, with the signing of the relevant contract.
Furthermore, discussions with experts from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and representatives of Space Techtronic Industries Services (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. led to the decision to create a special center for coordinating the processes of technology transfer from China to Uzbekistan.
An agreement was also reached with the Chinese company Xinjiang Beixin Road & Bridge Group Co., Ltd. to organize academic exchange programs.
In collaboration with Tianjin Agricultural University, an agreement was made to establish a research center in the agricultural sector and to develop the concept of "New Uzbek-Chinese Landscape Design," which aims to deepen cooperation in this area.
Additionally, negotiations were held with Chang’an University to discuss student exchange programs and the development of international cooperation. As part of this initiative, it is planned to accept up to 30 students in four undergraduate programs at the branch of Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute in Yangier.
The opening of a branch of Beijing Institute of Technology in Tashkent was also discussed, which will include five main faculties: Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering, Green Energy, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.
