Uzbek Delegation Studies Finland’s Experience in Sustainable Tourism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan conducted a working visit to Finland to study the country’s successful practices in sustainable tourism, where economic growth is harmoniously balanced with environmental responsibility and support for local communities.
During the program, Uzbek specialists held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, the national tourism promotion office Visit Finland, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, as well as industry associations of the Finnish tourism sector — SMAL and MaRa ry.
The delegation gained in-depth insight into advanced practices in sustainable tourism development, including the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) certification system, eco-friendly hotel models, and the implementation of circular economy principles.
The Finnish experience will serve as an important foundation for applying similar approaches in Uzbekistan’s tourism industry through the development of a certification system, workforce training, and expanded partnerships with the private sector.
The visit was organized as part of a joint project funded by the Government of Finland and implemented with the support of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
