Uzbek Customs Body receives award for protection of ozone layer
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan was awarded with an award for Europe and Central Asia (ECA) for contribution to protection of ozone layer within annual meeting of the regional ozone network of ECA, the press service of the Uzbek Nature Committee said.
The meeting was held in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan). Within the meeting, the participants discussed issues of strengthening regional cooperation within the customs services.
Ozon Action Programme UNEP DTIE initiated awarding of the special award to employees of customs and law enforcement bodies for their activities on preventing illegal turnover of ozone-depleting means.
The initiative plays an important role in the public recognition of customs and law enforcement officials in compliance with multilateral environmental agreements in the field of international trade, such as the Montreal Protocol, as well as health protection and preservation of the planet for future generations.
