Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Among those who lost their lives in a tragic carbon monoxide poisoning incident in Mangystau Region, Kazakhstan, only the head of the family was a citizen of Uzbekistan, Kun.uz reports.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has confirmed that one of the victims in the Kazakhstan tragedy was an Uzbek national.

The incident occurred on 2 March in a private house in the village of Baskuduk, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including five minors. Preliminary findings suggest that the tragedy was caused by improper use of gas equipment.

According to reports, the victims were all members of the same family. The only Uzbek citizen among them was married to a Kazakh national and had been living in the country with a residence permit. The couple’s five children also tragically lost their lives in the poisoning.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
