Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An analysis by the Center for Economic Research and Reform showed that sales in the domestic car market have continued to grow rapidly since the beginning of the year.
The Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR) regularly analyzes changes in sales in the car market.
In February 2022, 128.4 thousand vehicles were registered, which is 149.2% more than in February last year (51.5 thousand) and 123.2% compared to January 2020 (57.5 thousand .). At the same time, the growth compared to January 2022 amounted to 13.4%.
Experts attribute the sharp increase in car registrations as last month to the abolition of fees for purchasing cars. In particular, the fee for the purchase and / or temporary importation of vehicles into Uzbekistan was canceled, in accordance with the law on the state budget for 2022.
Previously, fees for passenger cars ranged from 6% to 11% of the minimum wage per horsepower, depending on age. Other cars were charged from 9% to 16% of the minimum wage. As a result of the changes made to the legislation, citizens who had previously purchased a car under a “general power of attorney” began to register a vehicle in their own name.
The number of cars purchased in the primary market in February this year amounted to 28.8 thousand. Car sales increased by 3.2% compared to January. In the secondary market, this figure amounted to 99.6 thousand (an increase of 16.8%).
