Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 December 2020, an online meeting of the inter-parliamentary friendship group of Uzbekistan and the UK was held.
It was attended by the head of the British All-Party Parliamentary Group for Uzbekistan (APPG) E. Bridgen and its members, the head of the parliamentary group for cooperation with Britain - the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sadyk Safoev, members of both chambers of the Uzbek parliament.
The state and prospects of inter-parliamentary interaction in the development of cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, issues of strengthening Uzbek-British relations after Brexit, as well as during and after the pandemic were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the further intensification of ties, on the strengthening of interaction between the two countries within the UN, the IPU and the OSCE PA. Attention was focused on the importance of contacts in order to implement the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, voiced during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
The parties exchanged information on the measures taken in Uzbekistan and the UK to counter coronavirus infection, mitigate its consequences on the economy and social life of the two countries.
In the context of this issue, the Uzbek side informed in detail about the transformations in our country.
British parliamentarians welcomed the achievements of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the socio-economic and socio-political spheres. They highly appreciated the efforts undertaken under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to strengthen peace and stability in Central Asia.
The parties agreed to hold regular meetings, which will serve to strengthen the Uzbek-British inter-parliamentary ties for the further development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
