According to preliminary information, in the village of Deyres, Aksy district, Jalal-Abad region, several citizens of Kyrgyzstan tried to illegally smuggle cargo on horseback into the territory of Uzbekistan.
Being 500 meters from the state border line on the territory of Uzbekistan, they were discovered by the border guards of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The smugglers did not obey the demands of the Uzbek border guards to stop.
“During the detention of civilians, a scuffle ensued. In order to save their lives and health, the border guards of Uzbekistan used weapons, as a result of which two citizens received gunshot wounds incompatible with life. The rest of the perpetrators managed to escape on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the border guards of Uzbekistan, the citizens of Kyrgyzstan tried to smuggle a contraband cargo worth more than 20 thousand US dollars.
As it turned out later, the dead citizens came from Uzbekistan, but in 2012 they received citizenship of Kyrgyzstan. According to preliminary information, they kept their Uzbek passports with them.
On the same day, a meeting was held between the border representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan, who went to the scene of the incident to study the circumstances of the incident.
