Uzbek Auto Market Expands, Electric Vehicles Surge
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center for Economic Research and Reforms released its updated analysis of Uzbekistan’s automotive market for February 2026, covering both conventional and electric vehicles.
According to the report, total vehicle sales in February reached 84,200 units, up 6.4% compared to the same period last year. Compared with January, market activity also increased by 2%, equivalent to roughly 1,600 additional vehicles.
The strongest growth was recorded in Samarkand region at 65%, followed by Syrdarya region at 7.2%, while Tashkent region saw a 12% increase.
Domestic new car sales in February totaled about 24,000 units, maintaining January’s level, with a year-on-year increase of 10.7%. New foreign-made cars showed higher growth, rising 1.5 times compared to February 2025, reaching approximately 3,000 units.
The report highlighted the electric vehicle segment, which continues to expand rapidly. February EV sales reached 6,900 units, 14% higher than in January and 1.5 times greater than the same month last year.
Regionally, the bulk of EV sales is concentrated in Tashkent, where about 4,500 electric cars were sold, accounting for roughly 65% of total EV sales nationwide.
