Uzbek and Old Uzbek Languages to Be Taught at Oxford University
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The University of Oxford will begin offering courses in Uzbek and Old Uzbek languages at its Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. The announcement was made by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, on her official Telegram channel.
She noted that she received an award from the university, which she regards as recognition of the progress achieved under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan in promoting women’s rights and empowerment.
During her visit, Saida Mirziyoyeva toured the Bodleian Library, which houses rare historical works such as “Gurgan Zij” by Mirzo Ulugbek, “Khamsa” by Alisher Navoi, “Diwan Husayni” by Husayn Bayqara, as well as Baburid-era miniatures and other unique historical materials.
