Uzbek and British universities to adopt a double degree program in law

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Tashkent State Law University (TSLU) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) held videoconference negotiations organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK, Dunyo news agency reported.

The Uzbek side was attended by the vice-rector of TSLU I. Rustambekov, from the British - by the head of the Department of International Partnership QMUL K. Burke and global projects and policy manager of the British university M. Coddington.

The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between TSLU and QMUL through the implementation of joint educational programs. In particular, representatives of a British university expressed interest in implementing joint educational programs with TSUI on double diploma at the master’s level (LLM).

Under the program, Uzbek students will be given the opportunity to study at a British university in 26 areas of jurisprudence. At the same time, it is planned to establish a simplified procedure for submitting applications and checking results (Fast Track Application Process). Upon graduation, graduates will be able to obtain diplomas from Uzbek and British universities.

The parties also agreed to study the possibility of implementing double degree programs in undergraduate (LLB) programs in subsequent years, as well as the opening of the Center for the Study of English Law at TSLU with the involvement of experts from a British university.

A promising area of cooperation is also the organization of an exchange of teachers, the invitation of British professors to give lectures at TSLU, as well as the participation of students of a British university in summer and winter educational programs (Summer & Winter Schools) organized by the Tashkent State Law University in the study of Uzbek law and comparative analysis of the law of foreign countries.
