Uzbek and Afghan Entrepreneurs Meet in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 October, Tashkent hosted a meeting of entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The event, organized at the initiative of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is part of a business forum bringing together representatives of the private sectors of both countries.
Around 80 Afghan entrepreneurs and more than 200 representatives of Uzbek companies are participating in the forum. Meetings are structured around seven key sectors: food industry, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, textiles, logistics, and auto parts.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Muhammad Karim Khoshimi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment; and Maulavi Abdul Ghaffor Bahr, Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan.
Throughout 2025, business events were held in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif involving more than 120 Uzbek companies, resulting in contracts worth over US$60 million. In August alone, a business forum in Kabul yielded more than 45 agreements.
Uzbek Trade Houses continue to operate in the Afghan market. The Trade House in Kabul features a showroom and warehouse offering construction materials and food products, while the Trade House in Mazar-i-Sharif specializes in pharmaceuticals and electrical equipment.
In 2024, foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan reached US$1.134 billion, up 30.7% compared to the previous year, with a positive trade balance of US$1.044 billion.
During the forum, B2B negotiations focus on expanding trade cooperation, implementing joint projects, developing investment initiatives, and enhancing the export potential of Uzbek enterprises in the Afghan market.
