Uzbek Ambassador Presents Credentials to President of Bangladesh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sadror Rustambayev, who is based in New Delhi, has presented his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the Dunyo news agency reported.

Following the official ceremony, the two sides held talks to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations across political, trade-economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.

President Shahabuddin described Uzbekistan as a key regional partner and a reliable friend of Bangladesh in Central Asia. He noted that the country’s international standing and positive global image continue to strengthen thanks to dynamic reforms and the consistent implementation of initiatives under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The meeting highlighted the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation. Both sides emphasized significant potential in textiles, pharmaceuticals and leather industries, with Bangladesh expressing readiness to share expertise and jointly develop new projects in these sectors.

The parties also discussed cooperation in cultural and humanitarian fields, including tourism and higher education.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh were established on 15 October 1992. Ambassador Rustambayev assumed his duties in New Delhi in January 2024. He previously headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in France and Portugal.
