Uzatom Studies Turbogenerator Technology at Ansaldo Energia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Uzatom Agency visited the production facilities of Ansaldo Energia in Genoa as part of an official working visit to Italy.
Ansaldo Energia, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of turbine equipment and components, presented the delegation with an overview of technological processes and the production organization of turbogenerators of various capacities for the energy sector.
Italian specialists conducted a tour of the main workshops, where rotors, turbine blades, and guide vanes are manufactured, showcasing modern equipment and advanced technologies.
The delegation was introduced to electrical discharge machining (EDM), heat treatment processes, heavy rotor welding using the company’s unique internal methodology, as well as ultrasonic and experimental quality control techniques.
Particular attention was given to the assembly area for medium- and high-capacity turbines, including a new installation section designed for the final production stages of high-power gas turbines.
It was noted that the plant is capable of producing turbines ranging from low-capacity units to machines capable of generating over 1,000 megawatts of power.
The visit highlighted the broad range of turbines and components offered by Ansaldo Energia, enabling the company to meet the diverse requirements of energy projects.
In the context of potential cooperation, the event served as an important foundation for further technical dialogue.
The next steps will include deeper collaboration and coordination to assess the compliance of equipment with the design requirements of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
