Uzagrostar Holding established to boost Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree on establishing Uzagrostar Xolding, a new agricultural holding company.
According to the decree, the company will be formed as a limited liability entity and will focus on identifying key agricultural regions for cultivating high-demand crops for both domestic and international markets.
The initiative aims to enhance regional agricultural specialization down to the mahalla level. To achieve this, the holding will create specialized subsidiaries, while designated key regions will serve as focal points for their activities.
By 1 March 2025, the Uzex Agro electronic trading platform will facilitate direct sales of produce from household farms and dehkan farmers to foreign markets.
Small-scale logistics centers will be established in Asaka, Kitob, Bahmal, Khatirchi, and Fergana districts in 2025, with at least five more agricultural regions to follow in 2026. These centers will include cold storage facilities with a minimum capacity of 100 tons, as well as distribution hubs for seeds, seedlings, plant protection chemicals, and mineral fertilizers.
A unified digital platform will be launched to provide household plot owners and long-term land leaseholders with online consulting services, financial support, and product marketing tools. The platform will also introduce a preferential online lending system, enabling farmers to secure loans covering up to 70% of their crop production costs.
To encourage agricultural production on household plots and dehkan farms, the government will offer financial support. This includes a subsidy of up to 15,000 soums per trellis for vineyards converted to trellis systems and a 50% reimbursement for in-vitro seedlings used to renew household orchards.
Additionally, in 2025, 1 trillion soums will be allocated for concessional loans to support the cultivation and procurement of fruit and vegetable products.
