Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russian businessman of Uzbek origin and philanthropist Alisher Usmanov transferred US$10 million to Uzbekistan, Usmanov said in a letter to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Funds were provided to help the victims and eliminate the consequences of the flood in Syrdarya region.
“Sharing the current epidemiological difficulties with my brothers and sisters in my native land, where I spent my childhood and youth, I learned with particular pain about the tragedy that happened at the Sardoba reservoir and about the trials that our people met with such dignity and courage,” he said in a letter to Usmanov.
“The Almighty Himself brought me home in the holy month of Ramadan, when we must show special mercy and compassion to those who need help. We always stand shoulder to shoulder and support each other both in moments of joy and in periods of adversity and difficulties. I can’t remain indifferent and indifferent to the fate of my people and donate US$10 million to help the victims, restore and improve their lives, and quickly eliminate the consequences of flooding,” Alisher Usmanov noted.
“I join the numerous requests to the Almighty for the deliverance of my brothers and sisters from unexpectedly collapsed trials on us,” the message says.
Alisher Usmanov also transferred US$5.2 million to help citizens as a result of the flood in Maktaaral district of Turkestan region of Kazakhstan.
