US$95 million, previously owned by Gulnara Karimova, returned to Uzbekistan from Switzerland

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A total of US$95 million, previously held in Switzerland and illegally acquired by Gulnara Karimova, has been returned to Uzbekistan.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Otabek Fozilkarimov, during a press conference held on 24 April in Almalyk, as reported by Daryo.

According to Fozilkarimov, an agreement has been reached for the return of a total of US$131 million that was confiscated by Swiss authorities.

To date, US$87 million of this sum has already been transferred. The funds are being allocated to the development of the healthcare and education systems, with US$43.5 million directed to each sector.
