Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 February 2020, in Cincinnati, at the headquarters of the world’s largest consumer goods producer, Procter & Gamble, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, Javlon Vakhabov, and General Manager for Government Relations Mike Prentiss.
The implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the President of Procter & Gamble to the European region of Loik Tassel to Uzbekistan in October 2019, issues of participation of the company’s senior management in the first Tashkent International Investment Forum on 5-6 March, as well as the expansion of the company’s business in Uzbekistan through the implementation of socially significant programs and investment projects were discussed.
Mike Prentiss, noting the growing interest of Procter & Gamble in the Uzbek market, praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan on the widespread introduction of market mechanisms in the country’s economy and the creation of favorable conditions for foreign investors. The representative of Procter & Gamble also welcomed the strong commitment of the Government of Uzbekistan to the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing seminars and training programs in the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan according to international standards for conducting customs procedures and identifying counterfeit goods, as well as in medical institutions of the republic for training mothers and adolescents. As emphasized, with the successful conduct of business in the country, as well as the effectiveness of the implementation of the above programs, the company is ready to consider the possibility of expanding the scope of activities up to the creation of production capacities in Uzbekistan.
At the talks, representatives of Procter & Gamble confirmed the readiness of the president of the company for the European region, Loik Tassel, to visit Uzbekistan again to participate in the first Tashkent International Investment Forum on 5-6 March.
