UPI Expands Strategic Academic Partnership with Uzbek Universities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) and Chirchik State Pedagogical University (UCSPU) held a high-level meeting on March 4, 2026, to advance bilateral academic cooperation.
During the event, several Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) were signed and discussed, covering the creation of joint academic programs, collaboration with UPI’s Postgraduate School on workshops for publications in international journals, and joint research projects.
Professor Agus Setiabudi, UPI’s Vice-Rector for Research, Community Projects, and Partnerships, highlighted that the visit aligns with UPI’s strategic plan to expand its global presence. He proposed support for UCSPU in developing teacher education programs and establishing an Indonesian language study program at the university.
Assistant Professor Doniyor Bakhtiyor Ahmadjanov, UCSPU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, emphasized the importance of national and international accreditation of teacher education programs and expressed interest in joining UPI’s AsTEN Teacher Education Quality Assurance Agency.
Discussions also covered student and faculty mobility, including mutual housing arrangements, seasonal educational programs, and expanding cooperation into economics and tourism. A joint program is planned for the autumn semester of 2026.
Earlier, on March 2, 2026, UPI and the Namangan State Institute of Foreign Languages (NSIFL) launched a new phase of strategic partnership. Professor Eri Kurniawan presented the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and conducted a workshop on preparing articles for international journals with the English department faculty.
Dr. Akmal Amanov, Head of the Department at NSIFL, stressed that publications in Scopus-indexed journals are a key performance indicator, and the training from UPI aims to help achieve at least 20 publications in 2026. The workshop included research strategies, source selection, and preparation of competitive article drafts.
During the visit, the UPI delegation also met with the University of World Languages Uzbekistan and Mamun University to expand dual-degree programs, student mobility, faculty exchanges, joint research, and publications.
A permanent mentorship program for manuscript preparation will be established at NSIFL, and collaboration will be strengthened through an upcoming MoA with UPI’s Postgraduate School, focusing on joint research projects and publications.
