Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 February, a tragic incident occurred in the Surkhandarya region, during which an unknown individual set fire to a house, killing a woman and her child.

According to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the fire occurred at 3:39 AM in the "Yangiul" neighborhood of the Uzun district. A report about the fire was received by the district’s police station, and an operational-investigative group was dispatched to the scene.

At the scene, the bodies of the homeowner, M. R., and her minor child, O. K., were found.

Both bodies had head injuries. Two other minor children of the deceased, M. K. and Z. K., also sustained head injuries and were hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2, Section "a" of Article 97 of the Criminal Code (Intentional Murder), and an investigation is currently underway.
