Unidentified persons stole steel sheets for more than 2,000 Chevrolet Nexia body parts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 June 2021, a train with raw materials that arrived at the UzAuto Motors plant in the city of Asaka was found to be missing a part of the cargo of sheet steel.

During the inspection of freight cars from the Russian "Severstal" at the entrance to the plant, a violation of the integrity of one of them was revealed. According to the results of the inspection carried out by the compliance service of "UzAuto Motors", it turned out that steel sheets were loaded into this car, some of which were stolen during transportation by unknown persons.

According to manufacturing standards, this volume of metal would be enough to produce 2,030 components for a Chevrolet Nexia-3, 871 Gentra or 970 Labo.

All materials on this incident, collected as a result of an official investigation, were sent to the Transport Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for further identification of the perpetrators, as well as for a legal assessment of the legality of the performance of their duties by employees of the transport security units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs responsible for the integrity and safety of transportation.

Taking into account the current situation with the global crisis in the automotive industry, and also taking into account the enormous efforts of the company to maintain the previous volumes of car production and preserve jobs at the enterprise, UzAuto Motors expects that the perpetrators will be identified, the damage will be compensated, and in the future will be accepted all measures to prevent such cases.

At the same time, UzAuto Motors guarantees the fulfillment of all obligations under the concluded contracts - this incident will not affect the timing of the supply of cars to buyers.
