Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In Uzbekistan, the unemployment rate in January-September 2021 made up 9.4%. This was reported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of Uzbekistan.

According to the ministry, this indicator decreased by 1.7% compared to the same period in 2020.

At the end of January-September 2021, the number of labor resources in Uzbekistan amounted to 19.3 million, which is 1.1% more compared to the same period in 2020.

About 13.61 million people work in various sectors of the economy, which is 3.1% higher compared to the same period last year.

Of this number, 6.1 million people work in the formal sector. The growth compared to the same period in 2020 was 7.9%. The informal sector employs 5.9 million people (4.1%).

According to the survey, 1.4 million people are in need of employment. Unemployment among people from 16 to 30 years old is 14.9% and among women - 12.8%.

For nine months of 2021, about 842 thousand people applied to employment promotion centers. Of these, 302 thousand people were employed.

About 203 thousand people are involved in paid public works. They were paid 177 billion soums. The total amount of unemployment benefits amounted to 81.9 billion soums (93.5 thousand people).
