Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo, in New York.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the UN Under-Secretary-General was informed in detail about the essence and content of the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create an International Negotiating Group on Afghanistan under the auspices of the UN, which was put forward on October 13 during the Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

The UN Under-Secretary-General welcomed the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, which is aimed at achieving a broad consensus on the Afghan issue and taking practical measures at the global level.

The parties agreed to continue regular contact to further advance the issue of creating an International Negotiating Group on Afghanistan initiated by Uzbekistan.
