UN provides US$162m to Uzbekistan in 2010-2015
He noted that the resources were directed to expand employment opportunities and economic security for vulnerable groups, improve the quality of education and healthcare services, ensure sustainable use of natural and cultural resources, enhance access to justice and promote the rule of law and good governance.
He said in 2016, the UN in Uzbekistan embarked on the implementation of biennial joint work plans under the new UNDAF for 2016-2020 in six thematic areas: livelihoods, social protection, healthcare, education, environment and governance.
He added that jointly designed UNDAF 2016-2020 reflects national priorities and is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Total amount of resources that will be mobilized to support the UNDAF is estimated at US$144.94 million.
According to the UN, about US$86.25 million will be allocated from existing resources and US$58.69 million will be other resources, which will be mobilized in partnership with donors.
According to UNDAF, about US$25 million, or 17% of the total amount will be allocated to good governance, US$37.28 million (26%) – improve the livelihoods and social protection, US$33.4 million (23%) - to education and health, as well as US$49.26 million (34%) – to rational use of natural resources.
