Ulugbek Mustafayev Confirmed as Hokim of Jizzakh Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ulugbek Mustafayev has been confirmed as the hokim (governor) of Jizzakh Region.

He previously served as the acting head of the region.

His candidacy was submitted by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at an extraordinary session of the Regional Kengash of People’s Deputies.

Addressing the deputies, the head of state outlined the key tasks facing the newly appointed regional leader.

According to the president, the region must attract at least US$4.5 billion in foreign investment, increase annual exports to US$500 million, create 175,000 jobs, and lift 15,000 families out of poverty.
