Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 April, within the framework of investment projects implemented by the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant Joint Stock Company, the opening of the Balpantau and Tamdybulak deposits as part of the Muruntau mine took place in Tamdy district, and the first blasting work was carried out here.
The participants of the event witnessed the successful implementation of the projects outlined by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the development program of the plant until 2026.
The construction of a mining enterprise on the basis of the Balpantau and Tamdybulak deposits, the creation of new jobs increases the confidence of the local population in the future. Stocks of gold-bearing ore from new deposits will be transported to the Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2 of the plant by rail with a length of 33 kilometers. At the event, it was noted that the ore reserves at the deposits amount to more than 40 million tons.
More than 3 million tons of gold-bearing ore per year will be mined at the deposits for almost 15 years. To carry out these works, it is planned to purchase 7 hydraulic excavators, 5 drilling rigs, 23 dump trucks, 2 diesel locomotives and many other mining equipment. To date, one modern hydraulic excavator and 10 dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 90 tons have been delivered. Stripping work has started today.
Within the framework of this project, 653 new jobs will be created.
