Two Men Arrested in Tashkent for Speeding 222 km/h

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Two men were arrested for 15 days in Tashkent after reaching a speed of 222 km/h in a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, according to the Road Safety Service (SBDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The drivers, Ismatillo Komiljonov and Shahzod Akhmadjonov, posted a video on social media showing their vehicle equipped with special signals moving through the city at nearly four times the legal speed limit, which is 60 km/h. The footage showed the car performing dangerous maneuvers at high speed.

Authorities confirmed the video was recorded on March 9 on Faiziy Street in the Sergeli district. The SBDD held a preventive discussion with the drivers, explaining the legal and moral consequences of such actions.

In the video, Komiljonov expressed regret for the incident, acknowledged the lawful measures applied, and urged others to avoid similar violations. Akhmadjonov said he did not expect such consequences and highlighted the principle of rule of law and inevitability of punishment, urging citizens to comply with traffic rules and refrain from sharing dangerous driving videos online. He also apologized if his actions caused inconvenience to anyone.

The SBDD emphasized the importance of road safety and warned that such violations carry strict legal consequences in Uzbekistan.
