Türkiye’s Anadolu Isuzu Acquires Controlling Stake in Samarkand Automobile Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Agency for State Asset Management has announced the completion of the sale of a 75.2% state stake in the charter capital of the Samarkand Automobile Plant (SamAuto) to the Turkish company Anadolu Isuzu.

Under the terms of the agreement, Anadolu Isuzu paid US$80 million for the share package and committed to invest an additional US$80 million in the development of the plant. The funds will be allocated in line with a feasibility study prepared by international consultants. Following the completion of the transaction, 1 trillion soums was transferred to the national budget.

As part of its investment plan, the company intends to expand the production of large-capacity buses and electric buses, establish a network of service centers, and boost exports to Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Middle East and Africa. Anadolu Isuzu is part of the Anadolu Group, which has previously invested in Coca-Cola production in Uzbekistan and in the modernization of local plants.

The Samarkand Automobile Plant was established in 1996 in partnership with Türkiye’s Koç Holding and manufactures trucks, buses based on Isuzu chassis, and Isuzu D-Max pickups.
