Turkish construction firms carry out projects for US$2bn in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Turkish construction companies carried out construction works for about US$2 billion in 1991-2012, the Embassy of Turkey in Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The release said that currently Çalık Enerji is completing works at Navoi thermal power station, which were started in 2009, and will hand over the project soon.

DAL Teknik Makine undertook obligation to construct cement plant in Jizzakh region on “turnkey” bases.

Total volume of Turkish investments into Uzbekistan exceeds US$1 billion, the release of the embassy reads.

Currently, there are 579 firms with Turkish capital in Uzbekistan and 84 companies have their offices in the country.

These companies work in such areas as textile industry, hotel business, pharmaceuticals, production of construction materials and plastics products, as well as services.

According to the estimates, textile companies with Turkish investments export goods for US$300 million each year and provide jobs to 50,000 people.
