Turkish company is building a thermal power plant in Kibray region with a capacity of 240 MW

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, on 19 August, a press tour with the participation of media representatives was organized at the construction site of a thermal power plant in Kibray district of Tashkent region.

In Kibray district of Tashkent region, a thermal power plant is being built using modern combined-cycle plants (CCGT). The TPP with a capacity of 240 MW is being built by the Turkish company Cengiz Energy.

Construction is carried out in accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev from 2 February 2021 "On measures to organize the construction of another thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in Tashkent region."

According to the resolution, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Cengiz Energy (investor) and Cenergo (project company).

The thermal power plant, fueled by natural gas, includes two gas turbines manufactured by GE (USA) and one steam turbine manufactured by Siemens (Germany).

After the TPP is put into operation, the electricity produced by Cengiz Energy will be sold to the operator of the National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC, under an agreement on the purchase of electricity for a period of 25 years.

It should be noted that the construction of power plants with a capacity of 240 MW in the Kibray region will cover the need for this region in electric energy and reduce technological losses for transportation through the main power grids.

Currently, the construction of these TPPs is underway, during which about 320 local workers are involved. With the commissioning of the stations, 100 new jobs will be created.

The launch of a new thermal power plant, which will be built on an area of 4 hectares in the Kibray region, is scheduled for December this year.
