Turkic States’ Governments Hold Summit in Baku
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 April, the capital of Azerbaijan hosted the second meeting of government leaders and vice presidents of the Turkic States Organization (TGO). Attendees included Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Kyrgyz Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, TGO Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, along with representatives from observer states.
The agenda focused on strengthening dialogue among member states amid regional and global challenges, expanding multilateral cooperation, enhancing trade and economic ties, and increasing investment activity in priority sectors.
Participants emphasized the development of transport infrastructure and coordination mechanisms, including deeper digital integration of the East–West Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor, and the implementation of the Zangezur Corridor to diversify transit connections.
Energy security was also discussed, with attention to expanding collaboration in the green energy sector.
The leaders highlighted that growth in mutual trade, investment projects, industrial cooperation, and collaboration in agriculture, the digital economy, small and medium enterprises, innovation, and high technology will enable the countries to realize their full economic potential.
The meeting stressed the importance of enhancing coordination to increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor, streamline customs and border procedures, implement digital solutions, and harmonize tariff policies. The Zangezur Corridor’s strategic significance was also underscored.
In addition, participants called for greater activity by the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic States and closer cooperation with the Turkic Investment Fund to boost the effectiveness of the organization’s economic institutions.
The session reviewed the implementation of directives from TGO heads of state and discussed prospects for further cooperation under global and regional challenges.
The summit concluded with a joint statement affirming support for Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the organization and ongoing efforts to strengthen practical collaboration in priority areas.
