Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Another tunnel of smugglers was discovered in the city of Kara-Suu, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
According to the service, on 11 June 2022, employees of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the assistance of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, revealed another tunnel in a house located in the city of Kara-Suu, Osh region.
During an urgent search at the above address, a blocked entrance to an underground tunnel was found in one of the premises, the owner of this house is a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic M.I.M.
The investigation found that M.I.M. in September 2021, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with an unidentified investigation by a person named Rustam, whom he has known since 2014. They made parallel excavations of the tunnel (towards each other), connecting Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, from M.I.M. (from the Kyrgyz Republic) and Rustam (from the Republic of Uzbekistan) for the purpose of illegally transporting consumer goods and foreign currency from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the investigative measures M.I.M. fully admitted his guilt in the deed and expressed his readiness for full cooperation with the investigating authorities in order to clarify all the circumstances of the commission of this crime.
All necessary investigative and operational measures are currently being carried out.
Since May, two tunnels have been discovered in Kara-Suu region on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, one in the village of Telman with a length of 270 meters and the second in the city of Kara-Suu with a length of 155 meters and a depth of 17.5 meters.
