Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 February 2026, a trilateral working meeting of border representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took place.

According to the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, the event was organized to strengthen confidence-building measures, ensure a stable operational environment, and maintain the state border regime.

The meeting was held at the tri-border area near the “Friendship” stele, within the jurisdiction of the respective border services.

During the discussions, the parties addressed issues of cross-border cooperation, improving direct communication mechanisms between border services, and coordinating actions to prevent potential incidents along the state border.

Special attention was given to procedures for cooperation during engineering, economic, and spring fieldwork within the border zone, as well as protocols for operational response and resolution of potential disputes.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the improvement of the surrounding area near the “Friendship” stele, including the construction of access roads along designated border sections by each party, as well as joint landscaping and greening initiatives.

The meeting was held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, reaffirming the parties’ readiness to further strengthen the state border regime, develop good-neighborly relations, and maintain stability in the border regions.
