Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 November, an open trial began in Bukhara on a criminal case on the events in Nukus, which took place on 1-2 July.
According to the indictment, as a result of riots in the city of Nukus, material damage in the amount of 6.68 billion soums was caused.
Most of the petitions filed by the defendants were granted by the court.
For example, at the court session, the accused D. Tadjimuratov made several petitions.
In particular, he asked that citizens who witnessed the crime committed be also invited to the trial. This request was taken into account, and when the main witnesses were questioned, the questioning of an additional witness was scheduled.
He also requested that he be given the opportunity to speak with his lawyer. The court gave this opportunity.
However, the petition to bring the Koran "to prove the purity of his soul" was rejected by the court, since such a legal mechanism does not exist in the legislation.
After the lunch break, the trial continued. Defendant D. Tadjimuratov filed a motion to involve his brother as his defense counsel. The court granted this request.
